  • Lie face down on the massage table unless otherwise instructed.
  • If you are pregnant or unable to lie on your stomach, please lie on your side.

PREGNANCY POLICY

Remedial Thai & Relaxation Therapy considers the safety of both mother and baby is our highest priority. Pregnancy is a complex medical condition and certain complications may arise that can affect the suitability of massage therapy.

While massage may provide relief from common pregnancy related discomforts, some conditions associated with pregnancy including high blood pressure, risk of blood clots, gestational conditions, and other medical complications may require medical supervision.

For this reason, Remedial Thai & Relaxation Therapy adopts a cautious approach when providing massage services to customers who are pregnant.

First Trimester

Massage treatments are not provided during the first trimester unless written clearance is obtained from your treating medical practitioner.

Medical Clearance

Written approval from your GP, obstetrician, or midwife may be required prior to treatment, particularly where there are any medical concerns or pregnancy related complications.

Medical clearance may be requested if you have, or have had, conditions including but not limited to:

  • A high risk pregnancy
  • A history of miscarriage
  • High blood pressure or preeclampsia
  • Diabetes or gestational diabetes
  • A history or risk of blood clots
  • Significant swelling, pain, or other medical concerns

Where there is any uncertainty regarding the suitability of massage, customers must seek advice from their healthcare provider prior to treatment.

Treatment Modifications

Where massage is provided during pregnancy, massage treatments will be modified to prioritise safety and comfort. Positioning and techniques will be adjusted as required for safety and comfort.

Without written medical clearance:

  • Deep tissue massage will not be performed
  • Foot reflexology will not be performed
  • Gentle pressure only will be applied

All treatments will be modified for comfort and safety.

Customer Responsibility

Customers must inform Remedial Thai & Relaxation Therapy of pregnancy at the time of booking and again prior to treatment.

If pregnancy is not disclosed, the appointment may be cancelled.

Customers are responsible for obtaining appropriate medical advice regarding the suitability of massage therapy during pregnancy.

Remedial Thai & Relaxation Therapy reserves the right to decline, postpone, or modify treatment where we believe massage may not be appropriate or where adequate medical clearance has not been provided.

Remedial Thai & Relaxation Therapy does not provide medical advice. Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical care. Customers should consult their healthcare provider regarding any medical concerns or the suitability of massage during pregnancy.
